The user interface for emergency responders is divided into three parts:

Search & Key Features Window: Input the address or intersection of the emergency and zoom to that location on the map. Select key features to display on the map such as:

fire hydrants
fire management zones/districts
fire stations
hospitals
manholes
police stations
regulated businesses (hazardous materials-containing facilities)
rivers and waterways
sewer lines
storm drains and lines

Map: Displays the selected key features on a satellite-based map. Users can pan, zoom in or out, rotate and even change the viewing angle.

Data Window: When a regulated business is selected on the map, HazMAP links instantly to its electronic data files and displays the business plan for that facility in the data window. Site-specific business plan information may include chemical names and quantities, evacuation procedures, site maps, business owner/operator contact information, etc. The data window also provides access to:

chemical-specific data
• Reference documents: CHRIS manual and ERG 2004
PPE recommendations
chemical plume modeling
WMD modeling

Electronic resource documents can also be selected and displayed such as Hazardous Materials Area Plans, region-specific emergency contacts, etc.
