TAIT was given “Best of Friends Award” from Taller San Jose (2008)

TAIT was honored with the Best of Friends Award at the “Light up a Life” fundraiser by Taller San Jose, a nationally recognized program that prepares unemployed youth for entry-level jobs in residential construction, medical careers and computer technology. The Best of Friends Award annually recognizes a longstanding partner in the community who has made a significant contribution to the development of the program and has played a major role as an advisor, employer and/or donor. Past recipients include Lennar Homebuilding and Clark Construction Group, among others.

TAIT has supported the Santa Ana-based program in a variety of ways. This includes monetary donations and gratis design services for their main training facility (“Taller Tech”). Also provided were surveying and civil design work for three homes, which were built as a student project, to ultimately house three low-income families. In addition, TAIT has conducted a job interview class, served on their advisory board, and hired their graduates.

TAIT chose to help Taller San Jose because of its effective, results-driven approach, which provides education where it’s needed most, giving students a hand, not a hand-out. Supporting the program allows TAIT to give something back to the neighborhood in a very meaningful and immediate way, for it combines job skills with character-building life skills, empowering students with hope and opportunity.
